wtf  the same topic again already? Ok today a friend of mine received 3 texts with slanderous text and dirty pic’s (no faces) supposedly of a co-worker. Not wanting to respond to the text and as he is technically challenged he gave me the number and we did a reverse look up using several sites.  No luck. Next we dialed the number and were greeted with “this number does not exist please check your number and try your call again” How can this be you ask? ok I wont tell you to gts but do look at these links. Android  Apple

I know crazy eh? The friend who put me on to this now says he deals with kijiji deals by getting license plate numbers for security(piece of mind). He got burned with burn number when goods he received were not as advertised and when he called the original working contact number it was no longer working! Burn! hence the name of the app? I’ve since found out these numbers are used for several reasons and most of them are not good. Sure a clean fun prank can be played and they can be billed as a security as Android app claims”***FREE TO DOWNLOAD, INCLUDES ONE FREE NUMBER GOOD FOR 7 DAYS ***Burner helps keep your mobile phone number more private and secure. Make calls and send texts from phone numbers you control. Receive calls, texts and voicemails on your Burner disposable phone numbers. Find a number in any area code. Burn your numbers anytime.” but they can also be used for deception and slander. I’m sure if its bad enough that maybe the police can somehow track it. Maybe the worst that happens is the girl you met in a bar gives you this number and it doesn’t work the next day or after a few texts. Big deal but what if you didn’t go to a bar and meet anyone but someone texts your significant other or  texts co-workers or bosses a pile of crap about you. Why would someone do this? Spurned, put off, rejected, jealous  or just plain crazy. Maybe the police find them or maybe they say go fish as they don’t have the time or resources to pursue if not life threatening. Either way the big damage may have already occurred. Now it can be concluded that these app providers must of bought these bogus numbers otherwise how can they issue you a number when it may be issued to someone else by a Telco company. That being said does this app direct your call/texts through a server where someone is collecting even more data from you. of course it does don’t all apps? Not that I’m against free enterprise but where or when do we draw the line? But hey as described it’s FREE for a short time if you consider selling your soul as free. If you want it longer and or keep changing it well pony up some doe ray me $

PS apple devices got hacked again targeting but not limited to your email. First it was Microsoft now Apple.  Do you hear that Android/Google OS’s don’t get to popular or your time will come.
