Scotch and other fine whiskeys

Ok kids-wallets and ties are great  fathers day, birthday and Christmas presents for me when you were young; but now that you’re all legal aged  I have three words for you……single malt scotch. My favorite to date is The Balvenie “Rum Cask”. It’s amazing how it tastes identical to the regular The Balvenie until you’ve had a couple of sips and then lick your lips  and taste the rum! Boom! My first Scotch epiphany  brought on by taste not alcohol!  While  I don’t expect
my kids to spend $150 dollars on a bottle, a good entry level single malt can be found with Glenfiddich or The Macallan Gold.  The latter being renowned for not only producing great scotch but auctioned off the most expensive drink ever! Google that $#it.

As I age I’m growing a greater appreciation for what a fine scotch whiskey can do for you. With that being said, I realize it is not realistic for most of us to regularly spend $100 or more on a bottle of 18 year old single malt scotch.  We can however order a shot or two in a reputable bar and at least wet our whistles with the “good stuff”. Also, believe it or not there are some inexpensive scotches that are quite good and reflect some of the many flavors derived from the many different distillery areas.

This link will bring you to some inexpensive types – for those who as the Scottish would say are “frugal”.

Look to this link for some well documented info on scotch and other manly things

You’ve sure moved on from when we (& maybe a couple others) as pre-teenagers use to share a bottle of London XXX Sherry ($0.99) while going fishing on the Thames around Clarke road.

I get the feeling that stocking all those shelves has numbed your senses. This site is great for giving you direction, but you’re encouraged to go find additional information. Need everything handed to you on a platter, put some effort of your own in. What are you a liberal?
